After leaving the Amazon (see my Peru Part 1 post here), I took a quick flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco. In this post, I’ll recap my week in the Cusco region, including the 4-day Inca Trail trek.
Peru Part 1: Amazon Rainforest
Back in December and January, I traveled to Peru for two weeks. The trip included several days in the Amazon basin, a week in the Andes mountains, and then a few days on the Pacific coast. As you can guess, it was a pretty incredible trip. It was also too great to talk about in just one post, so in this post I’ll focus on the first part: four days in the Amazon rainforest.
Scuba Trip: Bangka and Lembeh, Indonesia (July-August 2019)
This summer, I was lucky enough to return to North Sulawesi for a week and a half of diving. I had been to Lembeh last summer, and this time I returned to the island for an underwater photography workshop. I also made a point to visit Bangka, another nearby island I hadn’t been to before, on my trip.
Work Trip to Rapa Nui (aka Easter Island)
In June, I went on the trip of a lifetime – a two-week trip to Rapa Nui! In this post, I’ll explain why I was there and how I spent my time on the island.
Europe Trip Part 2: Acropolis, Corfu, London, and Oxford
After 6 days in Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest, I set out on the second part of my trip: Greece. In this post, I’ll recap my visit to the Acropolis and my relaxation time on Corfu. I’ll also touch on the friend time I spent in the UK before going back across the Atlantic to Tucson.
Europe Trip Part 1: Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest
It’s been three years since my last Europe trip, so I figured it was time to go back, see a few new places, and visit some friends. There was a lot I wanted to do, so when I began planning my trip things got complicated quickly! Here, I’ll recap the first part: a train trip through Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. In my next post, I’ll recap my relaxation time in Greece and friend time in the UK.
Spring Break Scuba Trip to Florida
This year, my sister and I decided to meet in South Florida during my spring break. She and her boyfriend live in New England and needed a break from the cold, and I wanted to teach them to scuba dive, so Florida was an obvious choice.
What’s in That Hole? – Episode 16
Hello everybody and welcome to Episode 16 of What’s in that Hole?, a fun series I’m writing for my blog. It’s been nearly two years since the last post in this series – which means I have lots of exciting new material! In the last episode, I described some holes I found in the desert Coolidge, Arizona. This time, we’re going to look at holes underwater off the coast of Kona, Hawaii – just about as different as you can possibly get!
My First Half-Marathon
Last June, under a bit of peer pressure and during a momentary lapse in sanity, I signed up for my first half-marathon, the Sedona Half-Marathon. Sedona is stunning, but it’s also at 4,500 ft elevation and very hilly – not exactly a bright choice of location for my first try. Last weekend, nearly 8 months later, it’s finally over. I made it!
Trip to Hawai’i (Big Island and Oahu)
Back in December, after grading the last of my final exams, I headed off to Hawai’i for 10 days of scuba diving, hiking, resting, and catching up with friends. I made it to two islands – Hawai’i (Big Island) and Oahu. Read on for a recap and lots of photos!
4 Days in Washington, D.C.
Back in early December, I went to Washington, D.C. in support of my dad, who was being recognized at an American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows event. It was a busy time of year for me (right before finals!), and there wasn’t much time to explore D.C. because of the AIA events, but I did get the chance to do a bit of sightseeing. Here’s a quick recap of the trip.
Work Trip to Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan
Less than a week ago, I returned from a work trip to Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan. In addition to meetings in Amman and Sulaymaniyah (aka Sulaimani aka Slemani), I also visited Petra and had an extra day that I used to visit the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea. Read on for a recap of my trip.
