Back in June, I had the amazing opportunity to go to Rapa Nui (known in the US as Easter Island) as a faculty lead on a study abroad trip. I’ve had a crazy semester and am way behind on writing blog posts, so I’m going to try to start catching up. First up: a bit more about Rapa Nui, this time focusing on my experience scuba diving there.
This year, my sister and I decided to meet in South Florida during my spring break. She and her boyfriend live in New England and needed a break from the cold, and I wanted to teach them to scuba dive, so Florida was an obvious choice.
Back in December when I went to Hawai’i, I did something really stupid. I wasn’t paying attention while taking underwater photos, and got stung by a sea urchin.
Hello everybody and welcome to Episode 16 of What’s in that Hole?, a fun series I’m writing for my blog. This time, we’re going to look at holes underwater off the coast of Kona, Hawaii – just about as different as you can possibly get!
Back in December, after grading the last of my final exams, I headed off to Hawai’i for 10 days of scuba diving, hiking, resting, and catching up with friends. I made it to two islands – Hawai’i (Big Island) and Oahu. Read on for a recap and lots of photos!
Back in May, I spent three weeks on Honduras’ Bay Islands. I spent the first 2 weeks becoming a PADI scuba instructor, but after the course and exams were over, I needed a break! Fortunately, I was already in paradise so all I needed to do was get underwater. In this post, I’ll recap my fun dive portion of the trip, which included 1 day of diving in Utila and 3 days of diving in Roatan.
For the past year, my goal has been to become a PADI open water scuba instructor (OWSI). Two weeks ago, I completed the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Exam (IE) in Utila, Honduras, and now I’m finally an instructor! In this post, I’ll recap the IDC and IE.
Sometimes, the best travel experiences are the ones you didn’t plan. A perfect example of this: five days of free scuba diving while I volunteered as a “hostie” on a recent trip to Cairns, Australia. It’s finally here! My 3-week scuba trip to Cairns, Australia has commenced. I’ve squeezed this trip in during my winter break from teaching and have one main goal: complete the PADI Divemaster Course! This course is the last step before I can take the scuba instructor course, which I hope to do this summer.
