After leaving the Amazon (see my Peru Part 1 post here), I took a quick flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco. In this post, I’ll recap my week in the Cusco region, including the 4-day Inca Trail trek.
Peru Part 1: Amazon Rainforest
Back in December and January, I traveled to Peru for two weeks. The trip included several days in the Amazon basin, a week in the Andes mountains, and then a few days on the Pacific coast. As you can guess, it was a pretty incredible trip. It was also too great to talk about in just one post, so in this post I’ll focus on the first part: four days in the Amazon rainforest.
Scuba Trip: San Carlos, Mexico (August 2019)
Back in August, I went to San Carlos, Mexico, one of my favorite places to dive. I certified a couple friends as PADI Advanced Open Water divers on the trip, and also had time for a fun dive at the end. Here’s a quick recap of the trip.
Scuba Trip: Bangka and Lembeh, Indonesia (July-August 2019)
This summer, I was lucky enough to return to North Sulawesi for a week and a half of diving. I had been to Lembeh last summer, and this time I returned to the island for an underwater photography workshop. I also made a point to visit Bangka, another nearby island I hadn’t been to before, on my trip.
My Week in My Discomfort Zone
Back in May, the week after I finished the spring semester of teaching, I saw my chance to do something fun and ran with it. The result: I spent a week doing activities in my discomfort zone.
Europe Trip Part 2: Acropolis, Corfu, London, and Oxford
After 6 days in Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest, I set out on the second part of my trip: Greece. In this post, I’ll recap my visit to the Acropolis and my relaxation time on Corfu. I’ll also touch on the friend time I spent in the UK before going back across the Atlantic to Tucson.
Europe Trip Part 1: Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest
It’s been three years since my last Europe trip, so I figured it was time to go back, see a few new places, and visit some friends. There was a lot I wanted to do, so when I began planning my trip things got complicated quickly! Here, I’ll recap the first part: a train trip through Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. In my next post, I’ll recap my relaxation time in Greece and friend time in the UK.
Spring Break Scuba Trip to Florida
This year, my sister and I decided to meet in South Florida during my spring break. She and her boyfriend live in New England and needed a break from the cold, and I wanted to teach them to scuba dive, so Florida was an obvious choice.
Scuba Trip: Utila and Roatan, Honduras
Back in May, I spent three weeks on Honduras’ Bay Islands. I spent the first 2 weeks becoming a PADI scuba instructor, but after the course and exams were over, I needed a break! Fortunately, I was already in paradise so all I needed to do was get underwater. In this post, I’ll recap my fun dive portion of the trip, which included 1 day of diving in Utila and 3 days of diving in Roatan.
PADI Instructor Development Course in Utila, Honduras
For the past year, my goal has been to become a PADI open water scuba instructor (OWSI). Two weeks ago, I completed the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Exam (IE) in Utila, Honduras, and now I’m finally an instructor! In this post, I’ll recap the IDC and IE.
Spring Break Scuba Trip: Grand Cayman (Part 2)
This post covers the second half of my spring break trip to Grand Cayman. For a recap of the first half, be sure to read Part 1!
Spring Break Scuba Trip: Grand Cayman (Part 1)
I don’t have any teaching duties while my students are on spring break, so I decided to get in a trip to the ocean. My requirements for location: it had to be warm, have good scuba diving, and be relatively inexpensive. Grand Cayman is definitely NOT inexpensive, so how did I end up there?
